NAVELINA: This is the quintessential orange variety. The most widely consumed. Its flavour and
aroma take us back to our childhood. It’s a sweet orange with hints of acidity, which is more
noticeable the earlier it’s picked. It’s usually consumed from November to January. It pairs well
with chocolates and nuts.
NAVEL (WASHINGTON NAVEL, NAVELATE, NAVEL FOIOS): A very sweet orange with plenty of juice,
and hardly any acidity. This is the variety for those with a sweet tooth. It is harvested from January
to March. It can be combined with mint, ginger, or some liqueur. Ideal for “Agua de València” or
other mixed drinks.
SALUSTIANA AND CADENERA: Two orange varieties that look identical, both historic varieties; we
have trees over 100 years old. This orange has very thin skin and a very high content of very sweet
juice. It is widely used for making juice because it barely oxidizes over time and retains its flavour
well. It is harvested from December to February. Its flavour is enhanced in rice dishes, pastries, or
meat dishes.
NAVEL LANE LATE: A pale orange with a very pleasant flavour, a well-balanced sweetness-acidity
ratio, and a good juice content. Harvested from February to April. Can be used for both desserts
and appetizers.
NAVEL CARA CARA: The power of antioxidant carotenes and lycopenes. This orange is very similar
to the navel, but with a reddish flesh that gives the juice its colour. It has a slightly more bitter
taste than the navel and is highly potent. It is harvested from December to February. Its juice is a
spectacle of colour and flavour. It pairs well with nuts and cheeses.
NAVEL POWEL: A late-ripening orange with a sweet flavour and plenty of juice. Harvested from
February to April. A delicacy with strawberries and cream.
CHISLET: An orange with a high juice content and a fruity flavour. Harvested from February to
April. It pairs well with other fruits, such as strawberries and apples. It also matches dairy products
such as yogurt and cereal.
BARFIELD: Very pretty, the typical round and shiny orange. With a well-balanced sweet flavour,
intense aroma, and low acidity. Harvested from February to April. Very pleasant with mint and
ginger. If you like spicy food, a touch of some hot spice will enhance its flavour.
VALENCIA: A medium to small orange with plenty of juice and a very thin skin. It stores very well
and its juice oxidizes very little. Its flavour is slightly acidic. Good for summer consumption. It is
harvested from March to June. It keeps well in the refrigerator during the summer. It can be used
in cocktails and ice cream; it is very refreshing.
